Rum Old Fashioned
We're having some supply issues at the moment but expect to be back on sale very soon.
A blend of Baijan rum, cardamom, demerara and vanilla. Bottled and aged for at least six weeks.
The Rum Old Fashioned is also available as a 50ml miniature here.
A variation on the classic bourbon version, this is an Old Fashioned with a really high quality rum. The rum’s softer allures like toasted and vanilla come out strong with a few weeks ageing, but a sip of this Old Fashioned reveals pepper and heat, burnt oak and honey.
Pour over ice in a rocks glass and stir until freezing. Add a slice of lime.
History and Reviews of the Myatt's Fields Rum Old Fashioned
So, Rum. When I was a child, nobody drank this. I can’t count white rum, and not just out of misplaced snobbery. It’s very hard to connect a drink like Bacardi with a drink like Ron Zacapa XO. They don’t appear to have anything to do with each other, so seems funny that they have the same name. I understand that you dissolve sugar and ferment molasses and so on in both, but that doesn’t seem to connect them in my mind. Anyway, that’s not the point.
Old Fashioned is a great drink, and hard to get wrong, whatever people say. Put a teaspoon of sugar in a glass, two or three dashes of bitters, and a good slug of bourbon. Ice optional, of orange peel looks and tastes great. No slice of orange, no cherry, no water, no vermouth.
Probably you’ve that. Have you made an old fashioned with a really high quality rum (Mount Gay in this example). Rum’s softer allures like toasted and vanilla come out strong with a few weeks ageing, but a sip of this Old Fashioned reveals pepper and heat, burnt oak and honey.
Each sip is a gateway drug that will bring you back to the pirate rum party that was wrecked by Bacardi Mojitos and Malibu. Try it.
